Regulation of New Technologies: Blockchain, AI and Quantum Computing. This session will provide an overview of the technologies underpinning blockchains and crypto assets; artificial intelligence and quantum computing and discuss the actual and potential uses of such technologies in financial services. The session will then pivot to a discussion of concerns raised by regulators to these new technologies, and the approaches regulators have taken to date to address their concerns, with particular emphasis on approaches by regulators in the United States.
The session will conclude with a discussion of how regulators might balance their concerns about new technologies generally while not impeding their development.
